Sharing Personal Stories & Implicit Bias Discussion

Recorded June 12, 2020, this edition of the Jack Cooper Podcast will focus on the development of the company’s Diversity & Inclusion Commission. Through the course of the podcast, you’ll get to know the members of the commission, and you will hear what inspired them to become leaders in this effort. We’ll also get an update on the initial steps being taken by Diversity & Inclusion Commission and the important role that Jack Cooper employees will have in helping this initiative move forward.

Recorded June 25, 2020, the Jack Cooper Podcast brings back two members of the Company's Diversity & Inclusion Commission for an important discussion examining the topic of implicit bias. D&I Commission member Lawrence Roberts, who is the Terminal Manager at Jack Cooper's Lansing facility, opens up with some personal stories of his experiences growing up in Detroit and the culture shock of moving to rural Iowa for college. Among the numerous offers he had to play NCAA football, Lawrence chose the scholarship offered by Iowa State for his path to a college degree. D&I Commission member Kasandra Ordaz, who is part of the Human Resources Team at Jack Cooper, joins the discussion as well. Kasandra helps us look deeper into implicit bias and how it can be addressed with a greater awareness as we go through our daily lives.
