We are looking for Class A CDL drivers with two (2) years of verifiable tractor-trailer driving experience; OR one (1) year verifiable tractor/trailer driving experience with trucking school certificationMUST HAVE A LEAST ONE YEAR, HIGH-CAPACITY CAR HAUL EXPERIENCE. At Jack Cooper Transport, our mission is to lead the vehicle transport services industry by meeting or exceeding our customers’ expectations for timely delivery, damage-free performance and value.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Load, unload & transport vehicles to/from manufacturing plants, rail heads, and dealerships in a safe and timely manner while meeting delivery schedules

  • Inspect vehicles for defects and damages prior to loading

  • Operate electronic log system

  • Comply with DOT rules and regulations and company policies and procedures

  • Typical work week is 6 days (approximately 52 hours per week) which includes some weekends and nights;

  • Operating area includes: Midwest - MO, KS, AR, OK, NE, SD, MN, IA, WI, IL, IN, MI, OH, KY;

  • Weekly average miles: 2000

  • Time out for Road drivers; Up to 4 nights per week;

PAY

  • Mileage pay $1.00 - $1.53 per mile depending on vehicle type loaded.

  • $200/day Orientation and Training Pay

  • Additional compensation ($15-$25 per vehicle) for both loading and unloading.

  • Shuttle pay:

    • Zone 1: 0-6.9mi pays $86.92;

    • Zone 2: 7-14.9mi pays $95.44;

    • Zone 3: 15-30.9mi pays $103.81;

    • Zone 4: 31-44.9 mi pays $112.29

  • Weekly average pay estimate; $1500

QUALIFICATIONS

  • MUST HAVE A LEAST ONE YEAR, HIGH-CAPACITY CAR HAUL EXPERIENCE

  • Must be at least 21 years old

  • Must have two (2) years of verifiable tractor-trailer driving experience; OR one (1) year verifiable tractor/trailer driving experience with trucking school certification

  • Must successfully pass the DOT pre-employment drug screen

  • No evidence of more than one current CDL license

  • Minimum of 3 years of verifiable previous employment history

  • No previous history of suspension, revocation or cancellation of driving privilege, as a result of moving traffic violations or vehicle accidents within the past 3 years

  • Must read and speak English sufficiently to converse with the general public

  • Must meet all requirements within Section 391 of the FMCSR. Section 391 includes but is not limited to:

    • Motor vehicle record

    • Background check with previous employer(s)

    • Road test

    • Medical

    • Certification of Violation and Annual Review

    • Request for information from previous employer on alcohol and controlled substance testing

  • No previous history of conviction or forfeiture of bond for the following offenses while operating a motor vehicle:

    • Leaving the scene of an accident

    • Using motor vehicle to commit a felony

    • Under the influence of drugs or in the possession of drugs

    • Under the influence of alcohol within past 3 years or at any time while operating a CMV

  • Must possess the required CDL endorsements for operating a tractor/trailer with air breaks

  • No combination of three (3) or more moving violations, convictions or preventable accidents in the past 36 months

  • No involvement in a preventable rear-end accident within the last two (2) years

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Adhere to OSHA regulations and company safety policies

  • Transport vehicles to and from automotive plants, dealerships, car rental companies, and truck and rail yards, as applicable

  • Provide timely transportation

  • Provide effective communication and feedback to managers, employees, customers

  • Coordinate and oversee the transport of vehicles to and from different automotive plants, dealerships, car rental companies, and truck and rail yards, as applicable

  • Compile and complete transfer paperwork, as applicable

  • Conduct inspections; document damage

  • Prioritize delivery of units consistent with customer requirements and maximum productivity, as applicable


PHYSICAL ABILITIES AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Physical agility to include, but may not be limited to, walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, lifting up to 100 pounds, pushing, pulling, stretching, climbing and balancing

  • Visual acuity, including but may not be limited to, close up and distance, peripheral sight, ability to discern color

  • Ability to perform effectively at heights up to 50'

  • Manual dexterity
