Job Summary:
Oversee dispatch operations; ensure most efficient use of resources

Essential Functions:
• Manage and track driver productivity/availability
• Ensure driver loads are consistent with equipment capacity, Load Factor and Load Efficiency standards
• Audit load efficiency and compliance with DOT/MOT regulations
• Ensure driver assignments are properly documented; ensure compliance with assignment
• Ensure drop sequence is clear to driver and obtain driver acknowledgement/agreement
• Update load planners regarding available equipment for future shipments
• Ensure compliance with company policies and DOT/OSHA regulations; take disciplinary action as necessary
• Lead, manage and develop direct reports fairly and equitably, in accordance with Jack Cooper’s policies and procedures, collective bargaining agreements and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; providing coaching, counseling and feedback; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving issues or conflicts; direct and effective communication; and building an effective team dynamic to achieve maximum employee productivity and engagement
• Ability to successfully pass DOT/MOT drug screen and criminal background check in exercising the authority outlined in the preceding bullet, and/or in recommending any of those authorities, a Dispatch Supervisor is expected to exercise his/her independent judgment on behalf of Jack Cooper
• Collaborate with Human Resources, as appropriate, to facilitate legal compliance, and fairness and consistency of treatment of employees across the organization

Requirements

Requirements:
• High school graduate or equivalent
• 3 or more years’ dispatch experience, including management in a union environment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills
• Excellent decision-making, communication, and customer service skills
• Working knowledge of computers and programs to include Microsoft Office
• Ability to effectively manage time and priorities
• Solid working knowledge of DOT/MOT/JWC regulations
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills
