Perform hands-on duties related to repair and maintenance of trucks, trailers and other equipment; fabricate parts, monitor and manage parts inventory and perform vehicle inspections.

Essential Functions of Diesel Fleet Mechanic:
• Repair trucks, trailers and other equipment in a timely manner.
• Fabricate parts
• Communicate effectively to ensure efficient repair and maintenance performance
• Inspect equipment; report mechanical issues and problems to shop management
• Ensure parts inventory is adequate to meet repair needs; report supply needs to shop management, as applicable
• Maintain compliance with company policies and MOT/CCOHS regulations
• Create and process GROs and invoices
• Participate in safety programs
• Assign work orders, as applicable

Requirements

Physical Abilities and Work Environment:

• Physical agility may include but is not limited to walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, lifting up to 100 pounds, pushing, pulling, stretching, climbing and balancing
• Visual acuity may include but is not limited to close up and distance, peripheral sight, ability to discern color
• Work effectively in an environment with potential loud noise, extreme heat or cold, fire or explosion
• Manual dexterity
• Ability to work around fumes and petroleum products

Requirements of Diesel Fleet Mechanic:

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Recognized training in heavy truck maintenance and repair
• Current and prior experience performing medium and heavy truck maintenance and repair
• Welding training and experience
• Experience with hydraulic repairs
• Experience with diesel engine repair
• Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently
• Current working knowledge of MOT/CCOSH regulations
• Willingness to become CPR certified
• Red Seal Certification
• Must meet the medical requirements specified by DOT/MOT, as applicable:
• Current Class 1 or AZ preferred, as applicable
